A rural retreat for farmers on a windswept site. Ao Marama was built with hardy finishes to withstand fierce winds, roaming cattle and gumboots. The design aimed to foster simple pleasures; curling up on a window seat or a unwinding in a sheltered outdoor bath . A single bedroom hut, the layout can expand to sleep a party of six with minor adjustments. This building shows cheap materials and simple, repetitive structures can be used in a joyful way.
