Utility Sheds

Located in a small rural town in New Zealand, serving both the local community and drawing visitors from afar. The design seeks to create a different way of viewing art from an austere metropolitan gallery. Drawing on the rural context, it is comprised of a cluster of buildings clad in timber boards and metal roofing. These buildings are linked together by a continuous landscape wall, made of rammed earth and concrete, that encloses a central courtyard space; a cloister for the contemplation of art.
